It just so happens that the secret behind making big life changes comes down to the understanding of where you are at in the “stages of change” process.
Why is Change So Difficult Sometimes?
This week, I wanted to clear up a big misconception when it comes to making big life changes and why, sometimes, you just can’t seem to pull the trigger.
Contrary to popular belief, just because you want to change doesn’t mean you can rally yourself to the point of effective action because you may not
be in a place where you have enough internal leverage to make that happen.
So, the first step in empowering yourself is to understand that the process of making a change is actually more step by step than a black and white situation where you make a decision and
you should be able to go about making the change.
The Most Effective Process to Change
That’s why this show is dedicated to the Transtheoretical Model of Change (TTM).
This model shows why, in some circumstances, you can have all the motivation in the world, but still not be able to make a big change. Because,
if you aren’t at a stage where action can occur, it’s not gonna happen.
Worst part about that is we tend to get even more pissed at ourselves for not being able to make the change, while still being pissed that we’ve gotten ourselves in a crappy situation in the first place.
